Why You’ll Love It

An extraordinary and fully functional OOAK miniature grandfather clock by renowned artisan Keith Bougard of Small Time, France, this masterfully hand-painted longcase clock is inspired by an original circa 1740 English Hogarth clock and richly adorned with miniature painted scenes after the works of William Hogarth. Executed in dramatic ebonized black with delicate gilt detailing, the case is crowned with elegant finials and features a working clock face beneath the Latin phrase Tempus Fugit.

Each painted reserve is rendered entirely by hand in luminous miniature detail, depicting scenes including The Harlot’s Progress, The Fishing Party, The Garden Party, and Ashley Cowper with Wife and Child. The artistry is astonishingly fine, transforming the piece into both a functioning timepiece and a tiny gallery of 18th century narrative painting. Signed and dated 2019, this exceptional collector’s piece would make a breathtaking focal point in a Georgian drawing room, gentleman’s library, historic manor, or refined museum-quality dollhouse interior.

A Note About Value

Every miniature we offer has been carefully evaluated for its craftsmanship, rarity, condition, provenance, and collectibility. Many of the artisan pieces we sell are one-of-a-kind works that may never appear on the market again. While original retail prices provide an interesting historical reference, they rarely reflect decades of appreciation, the artist's legacy, or the scarcity of surviving examples.

Our pricing reflects the miniature's place within today's collector market and the years we've spent studying the artists, histories, and values that make these tiny works of art so special.

A Commitment to Research

Every miniature has a story, and uncovering it is one of our greatest passions. We carefully research each piece, but unsigned or illegible works can remain mysteries. If you can identify an artist or provide additional information, we'd be delighted to hear from you and will gladly update the listing to preserve their legacy.
