ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
Artist Spotlight: Aleah Klay
There is something unmistakably tender about the work of Aleah Klay—a sense that each piece carries not just detail, but feeling. A self-taught miniaturist based in Salt Lake City, Utah, she creates extraordinarily small, one-of-a-kind figures, often no more than ½ inch to 1¼ inches tall. Within this nearly impossible scale, her mice, bears, and storybook creatures take on a deeply human presence, each imbued with quiet emotion and an unwritten narrative that feels both nostalgic and timeless.
Her process is as intimate as the figures themselves. Beginning with a wire armature, Klay hand-sculpts each piece in polymer clay, forming the face first with a sewing needle so the character can emerge organically. She then builds the body and clothing, cures the form, and applies fur strand by strand—often using viscose or embroidery floss—before finishing with delicately painted features. She works entirely without molds, ensuring that every figure remains truly one-of-a-kind, never to be replicated.
Rooted in a love of childhood, storybook imagination, and quiet magic, Klay’s work is intended to evoke small moments of joy while leaving each story open for the viewer to complete. Her miniatures have been featured in international publications, and as the physical demands of her process have slowed her output, her earlier works have become increasingly rare and sought after. We are honored to present a curated selection here at Magpie Miniatures—tiny treasures that feel, in every sense, alive.

COLLECTION SPOTLIGHT
The Parting Symphony: Madame 'Y' Collection
Nestled among the serene gardens of Kanagawa, Japan, resides Madame 'Y', an enigma who wishes to stay anonymous. Within her home, she has a secret symphony, her parting gift to the world!
Her magnificent collection of exquisite miniatures spans decades and continents. Each artisan piece, meticulously chosen and cherished. But time, like a sculptor's chisel, has etched its mark on Madame 'Y'. Though her spirit has retained its vibrancy, her hands, once steady enough to hold the most delicate figurine, now yearn for rest.
Thus, she decided to call upon Magpie Miniatures, a connoisseur of the miniature world, to embark on a unique mission: to become the conductor of her parting symphony, orchestrating the sale of her beloved collection while she is still here to witness its final crescendo.
