Why You’ll Love It
This extraordinary 1:12 scale Wooton Patent Cabinet Secretary Desk by master miniaturist Orvin Benonie Fjare (1918–2011) is a remarkably detailed reproduction of the iconic 1874 Victorian Wooton desk, famously known as the “King of Desks.” Crafted with exceptional precision, the cabinet features richly grained wood, contrasting decorative panels, Renaissance Revival moldings, and an elaborate cresting gallery with miniature brass finials. The exterior includes an ingenious brass mail slot labeled “LETTERS,” while the substantial hinged doors open to reveal an astonishingly intricate organizational interior. The left door contains assorted shelves, pigeonholes, and a miniature glazed compartment, while the right features an extensive grid of individual mail-sorting cubbies. At the center, a functional drop-front writing desk opens to reveal a dark, decorative writing surface surrounded by tiny drawers, arched pigeonholes, vertical ledger compartments, and beautifully detailed wood inlay. The cabinet stands on fluted feet with miniature brass-toned casters, completing this exceptional example of Fjare's precision miniature cabinetmaking.

A Note About Value
Every miniature we offer has been carefully evaluated for its craftsmanship, rarity, condition, provenance, and collectibility. Many of the artisan pieces we sell are one-of-a-kind works that may never appear on the market again. While original retail prices provide an interesting historical reference, they rarely reflect decades of appreciation, the artist's legacy, or the scarcity of surviving examples.
Our pricing reflects the miniature's place within today's collector market and the years we've spent studying the artists, histories, and values that make these tiny works of art so special.
A Commitment to Research
Every miniature has a story, and uncovering it is one of our greatest passions. We carefully research each piece, but unsigned or illegible works can remain mysteries. If you can identify an artist or provide additional information, we'd be delighted to hear from you and will gladly update the listing to preserve their legacy.
