Why You’ll Love It

This instantly recognizable, extraordinary King Henry VIII marionette is a one-of-a-kind miniature treasure created by celebrated artisan Almudena Gonzalez and custom commissioned for Maureen's remarkable puppet maker's workshop collection. Designed as a true marionette for a dollhouse doll to manipulate and perform with.

The King features a hand-painted porcelain face complete with King Henry VIII's signature reddish-brown beard and mustache, topped with a traditional flat black Tudor hat lined with white trim. He is dressed in a regal, heavy Tudor-style doublet and open overcoat in deep burgundy. The outfit features luxurious faux-fur lapels, intricate gold lace borders, gold brocade epaulets on the shoulders, and decorative pink gemstones down the center torso simulating a royal chain of office. He is suspended by fine strings from a miniature wooden T-bar controller, perfectly proportioned to sit or stand within a dollhouse scene.

Perfect for a puppet theater, Tudor court scene, royal palace, historical vignette, miniature museum display, an old world nursery or playroom, or a collection of artisan marionettes and period characters.

A Note About Value

Every miniature we offer has been carefully evaluated for its craftsmanship, rarity, condition, provenance, and collectibility. Many of the artisan pieces we sell are one-of-a-kind works that may never appear on the market again. While original retail prices provide an interesting historical reference, they rarely reflect decades of appreciation, the artist's legacy, or the scarcity of surviving examples.

Our pricing reflects the miniature's place within today's collector market and the years we've spent studying the artists, histories, and values that make these tiny works of art so special.

A Commitment to Research

Every miniature has a story, and uncovering it is one of our greatest passions. We carefully research each piece, but unsigned or illegible works can remain mysteries. If you can identify an artist or provide additional information, we'd be delighted to hear from you and will gladly update the listing to preserve their legacy.
