Why You'll Love Her

Introducing "Dolly Darling," a truly one-of-a-kind dollhouse doll sculpted by the late, talented Marcia Backstrom. Once the toast of the silver screen as a darling child star, Dolly Darling still clutches onto her glamorous past with ribbons, bows, and a delightful love of all things girly. Poised with her dainty ankles primly crossed beneath a spectacular all-white antique netting and lace gown. Her feet are adorned with sparkling pink shoes, twinkling with ribbons and rhinestones. Her aging face boasts plump pink lips, and a daring sweep of blue eyeshadow. Her show-white curls are meticulously coiffed and crowned with blush pink silk ribbon rosettes, mirrored by a grand pink ribbon rosette and lace gracing the back of her flowing gown. She even arrives with her own opulent Victorian velvet tufted and carved wood armchair, a grand piece crafted in 1986 by Pat Leonetta.

Styling

Dolly Darling is a timeless star, forever ready for her spotlight. Here are a few dramatic staging ideas: The Faded Star's Dressing Room: Imagine Dolly Darling in a miniature dressing room, perhaps by a tiny vanity strewn with imaginary stage makeup or faded photographs of her youthful self. A single, dramatic miniature spotlight could shine upon her, highlighting her enduring allure as she recalls past glories. Or perhaps, The Unforgotten Debutante's Parlor surrounded with antique toys or miniature playbills.

A Note About Value

Every miniature we offer has been carefully evaluated for its craftsmanship, rarity, condition, provenance, and collectibility. Many of the artisan pieces we sell are one-of-a-kind works that may never appear on the market again. While original retail prices provide an interesting historical reference, they rarely reflect decades of appreciation, the artist's legacy, or the scarcity of surviving examples.

Our pricing reflects the miniature's place within today's collector market and the years we've spent studying the artists, histories, and values that make these tiny works of art so special.

A Commitment to Research

Every miniature has a story, and uncovering it is one of our greatest passions. We carefully research each piece, but unsigned or illegible works can remain mysteries. If you can identify an artist or provide additional information, we'd be delighted to hear from you and will gladly update the listing to preserve their legacy.
