Handcrafted by German miniature artist Volker Arnold, this remarkable winter scene is created in approximately 1:144 micro scale, making the entire house essentially a dollhouse for a dollhouse. The intricately cut wooden chalet has a cheerful red snow-covered roof and sits within a wonderfully detailed winter landscape filled with evergreen trees, tiny figures, a snowman, and even a horse-drawn sleigh. Best of all, the scene really lights up, illuminating the little house from within for an especially magical effect.
The entire snowy vignette rests atop an interlocking wooden box-style base with the lighting mechanism and switch concealed underneath. Arnold is known for extraordinarily delicate laser-cut wooden miniatures, and this rare illuminated Christmas scene is a wonderful example of just how much storytelling can be packed into an exceptionally small scale.
