Why You’ll Love It

One of the most recognizable paintings in cinematic history is beautifully recreated in miniature by IGMA Fellow Marjorie Adams. Painted in oils on canvas in 1987, this gallery-scale masterpiece faithfully reproduces Helen Carlton's iconic portrait of Scarlett O'Hara, portrayed by Vivien Leigh in the legendary 1939 film Gone with the Wind. Scarlett is elegantly depicted in her unforgettable royal blue velvet evening gown with dramatic off-the-shoulder sleeves, gracefully draped in an elaborate white lace shawl as she stands beside a carved stone balustrade overlooking a romantic Southern landscape.

The original six-foot by eight-foot painting was created exclusively for the film and famously hangs in Rhett Butler's Atlanta mansion. It becomes the focus of one of the movie's most memorable dramatic moments when, overcome with jealousy and heartbreak, Rhett hurls a whiskey glass at the portrait, leaving a permanent mark upon it. Numbered #1 on the reverse and housed in a classic gilt wood frame, this exceptional large-format miniature is a remarkable centerpiece for any dollhouse gallery, library, or grand estate.

A Note About Value

Every miniature we offer has been carefully evaluated for its craftsmanship, rarity, condition, provenance, and collectibility. Many of the artisan pieces we sell are one-of-a-kind works that may never appear on the market again. While original retail prices provide an interesting historical reference, they rarely reflect decades of appreciation, the artist's legacy, or the scarcity of surviving examples.

Our pricing reflects the miniature's place within today's collector market and the years we've spent studying the artists, histories, and values that make these tiny works of art so special.

A Commitment to Research

Every miniature has a story, and uncovering it is one of our greatest passions. We carefully research each piece, but unsigned or illegible works can remain mysteries. If you can identify an artist or provide additional information, we'd be delighted to hear from you and will gladly update the listing to preserve their legacy.
