This magnificent OOAK Victorian fireside armchair by miniature artist Jill Dianne captures the romance and sculptural elegance of the French Louis XV fauteuil, one of the most iconic seating forms of the Rococo period. Rich with graceful curves, ornate carvings, and softly aged gilded finishes, the chair embodies the opulence and craftsmanship associated with 18th-century French salon furniture.
The frame has been expertly crafted from hand-carved wood, with elaborate decorative carving flowing across the crest rail, arms, and apron. The chair is upholstered in luxurious moss-green mohair velvet, applied to both the front and back sides, allowing the piece to be displayed beautifully from any angle within a miniature interior.
At the crown of the backrest sits a charming needlepoint-style floral medallion, reminiscent of French tapestry panels, framed with elegant gold cord trim that traces the graceful curves of the chair. The sculptural frame flows into elegantly carved Louis XV cabriole legs, while the ornate open arms give the piece the distinctive silhouette of a traditional fauteuil armchair.
The legs terminate in delicate brass caster feet, a refined period detail that mirrors full-scale antique seating designed for ease of movement within elegant drawing rooms and salons.
