Why You’ll Love It
A beautifully coordinated set of four vintage Mini Mundus porcelain apothecary jars, inspired by the smaller medicinal containers found in historic 18th-Century European pharmacies. Style C features compact, straight-sided cylindrical bodies with fitted lids, subtly flared feet, crisp cobalt blue banding, and delicate gold accents against glossy white porcelain. Each jar bears a different Latin inscription representing a historic pharmaceutical ingredient or preparation. Smaller vessels such as these were well suited to holding extracts and specialized ingredients used in preparing medicines, making this set a fascinating addition to a miniature apothecary, physician’s cabinet, or 18th-century interior.
- S. BERBER – Barberry seeds, historically used in medicinal preparations associated with liver complaints, jaundice, and gastrointestinal ailments.
- C. APII – Conserve of celery, a preparation associated with the historic medicinal use of celery as a diuretic and as a remedy for fluid retention, gout, and rheumatic complaints.
- S. ANISI – Aniseed, a staple of early pharmacology traditionally used to relieve gas and infant colic, ease coughs, and flavor bitter medicinal preparations.
- AX. LEPOR. – Rabbit fat, historically incorporated into topical salves and preparations intended to draw out splinters, soften hard swellings, and relieve earaches.

A Note About Value
Every miniature we offer has been carefully evaluated for its craftsmanship, rarity, condition, provenance, and collectibility. Many of the artisan pieces we sell are one-of-a-kind works that may never appear on the market again. While original retail prices provide an interesting historical reference, they rarely reflect decades of appreciation, the artist's legacy, or the scarcity of surviving examples.
Our pricing reflects the miniature's place within today's collector market and the years we've spent studying the artists, histories, and values that make these tiny works of art so special.
A Commitment to Research
Every miniature has a story, and uncovering it is one of our greatest passions. We carefully research each piece, but unsigned or illegible works can remain mysteries. If you can identify an artist or provide additional information, we'd be delighted to hear from you and will gladly update the listing to preserve their legacy.
