Why You’ll Love It
Simple, sturdy, and beautifully carved, this handcrafted farmhouse table is made in the style of early English country furniture. Inspired by the practical dining and work tables found in seventeenth-century taverns, farmhouses, and cottages. The rectangular top showcases attractive wood grain beneath a rich hand-applied stain. Four substantial turned baluster legs support the tabletop. Low stretchers connect the legs on all sides. This distinctive design was frequently found on working tables intended for daily use in kitchens, inns, and rural homes. It is signed on the underside by the artisan, although the name is difficult to decipher.
It would work well in a colonial kitchen, country dining room, tavern setting, primitive cottage, or early American interior. Its generous size also makes it ideal for displaying dishes, food preparations, market goods, or seasonal accessories.
