Why You’ll Love It
This remarkable miniature plate was handcrafted by IGMA Fellow Susan Van Tubbergen, who creates her celebrated ceramics under the studio name Van T Potter. Inspired by an original late 19th-century French Majolica design, this is an exquisite Trompe l'Oeil piece. Against a rich cobalt blue ground, dimensional apples emerge from the surface, still attached to their delicate branch and framed by carefully modeled green leaves. Each element is individually sculpted and brought to life through a glazing process requiring a minimum of four separate firings, creating the luminous depth and jewel-like finish for which Van Tubbergen's work is so highly regarded. The underside has a carefully finished foot ring and her hand-carved "SVT" maker's mark.
Perfect for a French country kitchen, formal dining room, pottery collection, or displayed in a hutch or wall rack.
