Why You’ll Love It
This 1:12 scale one-of-a-kind artisan doll by British miniaturist Jain Squires of The Giddy Kipper depicts an elderly household maid caught in a relatable moment of complete exhaustion, slouched back and fast asleep, mid-snore. Hand-sculpted from clay, she has a perfectly lifelike aged face with realistic lines, closed eyes, and an open-mouthed sleeping expression. Delicate wire-framed spectacles rest low on her nose, while soft white hair is neatly styled beneath a tiny lace-trimmed maid’s cap.
Her traditional household uniform includes a long black fabric dress, a finely detailed white lace V-shaped collar, and a tiny silver-toned cameo-style brooch at the neckline. A white apron wraps around her waist and is finished with delicate lace edging along the hem. She is sculpted in a relaxed seated position with her hands resting loosely across her stomach and lap, making her especially easy to place in a favorite chair, sofa, or quiet corner of a dollhouse.
Perfect for
A Victorian or Edwardian household, servant’s quarters, kitchen scene, parlor, humorous domestic vignette, period dollhouse, or character doll collection.

A Note About Value
Every miniature we offer has been carefully evaluated for its craftsmanship, rarity, condition, provenance, and collectibility. Many of the artisan pieces we sell are one-of-a-kind works that may never appear on the market again. While original retail prices provide an interesting historical reference, they rarely reflect decades of appreciation, the artist's legacy, or the scarcity of surviving examples.
Our pricing reflects the miniature's place within today's collector market and the years we've spent studying the artists, histories, and values that make these tiny works of art so special.
A Commitment to Research
Every miniature has a story, and uncovering it is one of our greatest passions. We carefully research each piece, but unsigned or illegible works can remain mysteries. If you can identify an artist or provide additional information, we'd be delighted to hear from you and will gladly update the listing to preserve their legacy.
