Why You’ll Love It
Few artisan furniture makers are as revered in the miniature world as John J. Hodgson, and this magnificent 1:12 scale Rococo console table is a stunning example of the craftsmanship that earned him IGMA Fellow status. Handmade in the United Kingdom and dated 1999, the table was created from Hodgson's own hand-carved master patterns before being cast in English pewter and lavishly plated in 22-karat gold, resulting in a substantial heirloom-quality miniature that weighs an astonishing one pound.
Every surface is alive with exuberant Louis XV ornamentation. Graceful cabriole legs flow into richly sculpted aprons adorned with scrolling acanthus leaves, shell motifs, floral flourishes, and playful cherubs, and an elaborate stretcher joins the legs together. Crowning the piece is a beautifully polished slab of genuine deep green marble, whose natural veining provides an elegant contrast to the brilliant gold finish.
Place it beneath a grand mirror in an entrance hall, displayed in a formal salon, or showcased as the centerpiece of an important display collection.
