Why You’ll Love It
A beautifully coordinated set of four vintage Mini Mundus porcelain apothecary jars, bringing together two complementary vessel sizes from Styles B and C. Each lidded jar features a cylindrical, straight-walled body, subtle flared foot, crisp cobalt blue banding, and delicate gold accents against glossy white porcelain.
The varied heights give this grouping the natural collected appearance of a well-stocked historic dispensary shelf. Each jar bears a different Latin inscription representing a pharmaceutical ingredient or preparation, a fascinating assortment for a miniature apothecary, physician’s cabinet, or 18th-century interior.
- EXT. RHEI. – Extract of rhubarb, historically valued in small doses as a digestive aid and in larger doses for its strong laxative properties.
- S. CARTHAM – Safflower seeds, traditionally used as a mild laxative and diuretic, as well as a diaphoretic preparation intended to encourage perspiration during fevers.
- EXT. CROCI – Extract of saffron, a precious pharmaceutical ingredient historically used as a sedative and antispasmodic, as well as to impart its distinctive color to medicinal preparations.
- CONS. SALVIAE – Conserve of sage, a historic medicinal preparation made by pounding fresh sage leaves with sugar and traditionally used as a tonic for sore throats, excessive perspiration, and memory.

A Note About Value
Every miniature we offer has been carefully evaluated for its craftsmanship, rarity, condition, provenance, and collectibility. Many of the artisan pieces we sell are one-of-a-kind works that may never appear on the market again. While original retail prices provide an interesting historical reference, they rarely reflect decades of appreciation, the artist's legacy, or the scarcity of surviving examples.
Our pricing reflects the miniature's place within today's collector market and the years we've spent studying the artists, histories, and values that make these tiny works of art so special.
A Commitment to Research
Every miniature has a story, and uncovering it is one of our greatest passions. We carefully research each piece, but unsigned or illegible works can remain mysteries. If you can identify an artist or provide additional information, we'd be delighted to hear from you and will gladly update the listing to preserve their legacy.
