Why You’ll Love It
A beautifully coordinated set of four vintage Mini Mundus porcelain apothecary vessels inspired by historic chevrettes, or spouted “wet drug jars,” found in 18th-Century European pharmacies. Style E features petite footed bodies with pouring spouts and handles, decorated with crisp cobalt blue banding and delicate gold accents against glossy white porcelain.
- SYR. CHAMOM. – Syrup of chamomile, a sweet herbal preparation traditionally used to calm nervous stomach complaints, soothe restlessness, and relieve infant colic.
- V. MENTHE – Mint spirit, a medicinal preparation infused with mint and historically used as a refreshing digestive aid to suppress nausea and relieve gas and digestive discomfort.
- SYR. CINAMOM – Cinnamon syrup, an aromatic medicinal syrup traditionally used to improve the flavor and help mask the bitterness of other pharmaceutical preparations.
- S. MANNAE – Syrup of manna, prepared from the sweet, sap-like exudate of the flowering ash tree and historically prescribed as a gentle laxative, particularly for infants and young children.
Unlike jars intended for dry herbs and powders, vessels of this form were designed for dispensing liquid preparations such as medicinal waters, oils, and syrups. Each bears a different Latin inscription representing a historic pharmaceutical preparation, making this distinctive set a wonderfully convincing addition to a miniature apothecary, physician’s workroom, or 18th-century interior.

A Note About Value
Every miniature we offer has been carefully evaluated for its craftsmanship, rarity, condition, provenance, and collectibility. Many of the artisan pieces we sell are one-of-a-kind works that may never appear on the market again. While original retail prices provide an interesting historical reference, they rarely reflect decades of appreciation, the artist's legacy, or the scarcity of surviving examples.
Our pricing reflects the miniature's place within today's collector market and the years we've spent studying the artists, histories, and values that make these tiny works of art so special.
A Commitment to Research
Every miniature has a story, and uncovering it is one of our greatest passions. We carefully research each piece, but unsigned or illegible works can remain mysteries. If you can identify an artist or provide additional information, we'd be delighted to hear from you and will gladly update the listing to preserve their legacy.
