Why You’ll Love It
An extraordinary musical dollhouse vignette created by acclaimed British artisan Sandra Morris of Tower House Dolls. The piece is based on the celebrated Roullet & Decamps piano-playing automaton dolls of the late nineteenth century. At its heart is a beautifully dressed Jumeau-style doll, complete with a pale blue and pink silk costume and an elaborate feathered bonnet. She is sized to be a doll for a dollhouse child. She comes with a matching miniature piano decorated with coordinating ornamental decals. The doll and piano can be displayed atop an elegant chest finished in blue with intricate decorative panels.
What makes this piece truly special is the concealed sound system housed within the chest. With the touch of a button, the vignette plays one of five different piano arrangements, providing more than thirteen minutes of music. The cleverly hidden speaker projects sound throughout a dollhouse room, creating the illusion that the tiny musician is performing. A rare sort of piece that captures the imagination of fans of automata.
Perfect for displaying in a Victorian nursery, music room, parlor, toy shop or as the centerpiece of a whimsical dollhouse scene.
