This remarkably realistic miniature dodo bird is a rare and memorable find. Built over a wire armature, the extinct bird features a softly textured wool body, individually layered feathers, a carefully sculpted clay head and beak, and delicate dark legs and feet. Its muted natural coloring, inquisitive expression, and slightly tousled crest give it wonderful personality while capturing the unusual silhouette of the famous flightless bird. Though unsigned, it is clearly the work of a skilled artisan.
